I scratched a 38 year itch when I bought this 76 Corvette Stingray. It's not high on the list of collectable Corvettes but the model year has special meaning to me. The new GM crate engine obviously isn't numbers matching but I really don't care. That's a game for guys who are better researchers than I am.

This 2002 SS Camaro
belongs to my younger brother. It lays down
unbelievable 5.5 second 0 to 60 times with the AC on.

My 1950 Ford is basically identical to my father's 1950 Mercury, aside from a few minor differences such as badging and the grille. The Mercs were rated at 105 horsepower vs 100 for the Fords.

I've had seven Rangers since 1986 and my 2001 Ranger Edge is easily the best one I've ever owned. It's a 3.0L V6 5 speed and gets excellent mileage. It's also a fun little truck. I drive it to work every day, which is a 110 km round trip. It has 165,000 km on it now and other than a clutch cylinder leak I've never had a problem.

We all need tires and wheels and finding websites that ship to Canada can be problem, not to mention the prohibitive shipping costs, broker fees and taxes. KX Wheels is a Canadian wheel and tire dealer based in British Columbia that has a great selection. Best of all they have CDN prices and Canada wide shipping at a reasonable cost using DHL.

Here's my dad topping up his tires. He's 83 now and so is his Model A coupe. Dad found it very close to home after traveling around Ontario checking out various Model A's for sale. In one case he drove 400 miles one way to see a car that was supposedly 'restored'. He was pretty annoyed at the seller when he got there and saw that the doors had been repaired by simply riveting panels over the rust holes.

The so-called 'Drive Clean'
emissions test in Ontario is not only unreliable, it's unfair. It does very little to lower emissions and is basically a regressive tax hiding behind a cynical save the environment banner. You don't have to take my word for it though. The Drive Clean Program site and this Wikipedia Article should help you make up your

own mind. You'll notice that the 'neutrality' of the article is disputed. Golly, I wonder who's protesting the facts. Here's an excerpt from the Wiki article

Obviously the status-quo with Drive Clean is not working. Only by pointing out the flaws in this program can we effect positive change. Drive Clean is a politically-motivated revenue generating program, and is clearly not fulfilling the goals of Ontario with respect to reducing air pollution. It is also unfair to operators of older vehicles.

If you agree that the Drive Clean program is broken  and should be fixed please call or email your local MPP requesting that he or she advocate that position. Click here for MPP contact info.

The Gofast Garage got it's name from a series of articles I read many years ago. It was published by Popular Mechanics and was called Gus's Garage. Gus was the owner of a body and repair shop and at least as clever as MacGyver. In each chapter he would solve a perplexing automotive problem to educate the reader. Occasionally the phrase "Meanwhile, back at the gofast garage.." was used. I always thought that sounded cool and it stuck in my head until many years later when I chose that as the name for this web site.
