I got this 317 from a friend who lives in the Buffalo area. I've actually lost track of how many JD's I've got from him. I sold the 317 in the fall of 2008 and bought a second 400. The guy who bought the 317 only kept it a short while and then re-sold it to another friend of mine who lives in Delhi. I'm glad Chris has it now. He appreciates vintage JD's and he'll do a good job of fixing it up. I sold the 317 with a 54 blade mounted on it that I got in Youngstown Ohio. It has a provision for power angle but only the lift cylinder came with it. Plowing snow with a  hydrostatic tractor is the only way to fly. It's so much easier than gear drive.

I took the 317 completely apart after I got it for some repairs. I replaced some hydraulic lines, fixed the neutral creep, and did a bunch of other stuff. I also cleaned the engine up. It had what I thought was a carb problem but the guy who has it now says it's the governor. Either way it's worth investing the time and money to fix it. It's a tough well built machine.
