| I
mounted the cab on this JD 400 before
the mowing season was over and left
the doors off till it got
cold enough to need them. I'd never
installed a Cozy Cab before and I
scratched the hood and fenderpan
getting it on there. That's okay. This
tractor is my beater. I use it to mow
close to evergreen trees and it sees
other hazardous duty so it has quite a few battle scars.
The cab will be coming off in the
spring to be blasted, painted and
installed on another 400 I'm
restoring. Here's
the tractor without the cab and
blower. |

I
fabricated a square tubing weight
bracket that's bolted to the tractor
frame. I put ten old rectangular
cast iron weights that weigh 35 lbs
apiece on it for ballast. The cab
weighs an additional 200 lbs and I
have tire chains installed. Should be
enough traction in the combination to
keep the old girl moving along.

| The
single stage blower is a Model 50 JD
and is 46" wide. It has a
hydraulically angled snow chute, which
is a great feature. I've used the hand
crank type enough to know it's not my
first choice. I'm really looking
forward to not freezing like I did
last year. |

| I'd
like to have some heat in my cab
and this is one of the options
for an air cooled engine. The
ducting picks up warm air from
around the muffler that makes it
way into the cab. They say it's
safe but I think I'll look for
another method. |
