I acquired this little 93 Splash as a hotrod project. The truck had 379,000 km (240,000 mi) on it at the time but the body was super good. I bought it cheap, safetied it and had emissions test done when I transferred the ownership to my name. Since it was road worthy I decided to drive it to work for a while. That was 5 months and about 8,000 km ago. It runs great, doesn't use any oil and drives almost as well as my 2001 Edge.

It was obviously well cared for and properly maintained. No matter how well the 3 liter engine runs though the truck be sporting a 5.0 V8 Mustang engine next summer. I plan to completely disassemble it. The cab, box and front clip will be coming off and the frame will be sandblasted, as well as any other suspension and chassis parts that need it.
This is the engine that will be going in the Splash. It's currently residing in a 1990 5.0 Mustang coupe that has a rusty body but a good motor, tranny and rear end. It will also be donating it's computer, front bucket seats and anything else from the Mustang that's usable in a Ranger.

This super cool hotrod Ranger was a Ford SVT project. They dropped a 5.4 Lightning motor in it, along with a bunch of other Lightning goodies. They called it a prototype but used the term loosely since they knew it would never go into production.
I found some hoods online that I like but I'm located in Canada so the actual cost will rise dramatically by the time I get it due to border taxes, a currency difference, broker fees and extra shipping costs. I live in Ontario, a province with a population of 10 million people. The climate where most of us live is better than some southern US states.
We have lots of muscle cars and hotrods in Ontario so it's difficult to understand why I have to order products like this from the US. Whenever I hear that Canadian businesses are hurting I tend to think it's at least partly due to having their heads up their asses.

Ford almost built a V8 Ranger but they chickened out. They're also talking about dropping the Ranger truck line altogether. Are they retarded or what? Every other small truck I see on the road is a Ranger. Don't they like success?  5.0 Ranger

Just because Ford won't build it doesn't mean we can't. Here's some V8 Ranger swap kit suppliers. They all have good reps and are well known. Advanced Adapters
