This 5.0
powered 1990 Ranger is now owned by a young miner from Sioux
Lookout, which is way way up north and almost as far
west as Winnipeg. The buyer told me it's where they
would insert the hose if they were going to give Ontario
an enema. I sold the truck to him last spring after
finally giving up on getting the truck through a Drive
Clean e-test. It got through the previous tests but
wasn't even close to passing in 2008. In my opinion, the sniff tests in Ontario are inaccurate, obsolete and
unfair and the government knows it too, as this Wikipedia
article clearly indicates. |

| The `84 5.0 engine
was significantly modified with a Crane Fireball cam, an
Edlebrock polished intake and a polished 700 CFM
Edlebrock carb. The headers are Hooker. The rear end
wasn't a posi unit so the Ranger's burn out capabilities
were magnificent. It would also spin the tires in 4th
gear at 60 mph on a wet road. First time that happened I
had to check my
linen. | | |

I customized
the interior a bit. The black bucket seats are out of an 84 Jimmy. The
shifter is a Hurst stick out my `69 Nova with a pistol
grip knob from a Cuda. That's the nice thing about a
hotrod pickup. There are no rules. You can do whatever you
want. That'll be the rule while I'm building my 93
Splash 5.0 too.

 The truck was a lot
of fun to own. I was really sorry to see it
go.

Wrenching runs in
the family. My brother did the 5.0 conversion on this
Ranger. It was his second 302 swap. | | |
