I bought this 2001 Ranger Edge because I needed an economical pickup to cover the 110 km round trip to work every day. The 3.0L 5 speed combo got the nod because it picks off 28 mpg.

I bought a new set of American Racing Outlaw II wheels (15x7 and 15x8) and some Wrangler rubber. The Edge is a 2 wheel drive but has a 4x4 ride level. I don't like the 'down in the weeds' look. Nothing wrong with that style. It's just a personal preference.

This isn't a sissy show and shine truck. I actually haul stuff in the box and pull a tandem trailer with it. It's a little underpowered when the trailer is loaded up but it does a good job. I'm building a 5.0 Splash stepside that will sub for the Edge when more grunt is needed.

Heading out on a another Deere hunting trip. My 3L V6 Ranger will pull a fair sized load. A lighter trailer would be good though.

I initially looked for an Edge with a super-cab. I had that on my 91 Ranger and liked the roominess. I ran across this black Edge stepside though and it was love at first sight. I have a tonneau cover on the box so I don't actually mind the smaller cab space.
